About The Art
My art is a snapshots of, landscapes, figures, nature, sea and its biology, transitioning into elements of color and dimension. Creating a virtual aquarium or living picture, for the viewer to enjoy. By using areas of thick paint rising off the canvas, allowing contrast and interaction with our living space. The canvas become a sculpture with paint. Layering paint and natural light affect how the light casts its own shadows on the canvas from the paint dimension. This gives the feeling of the canvas coming to life. The paintings take on the look and feel of oils sometimes. In addition I sometimes use mixed media, (Fired Clay, tree bark, glass and weaved material, etc.) to bring texture to the forefront. Use of outlines and thicker paints on parts my canvas are inspired by Van Gogh, and Wayne Thiebaud’s cake-like applications of paint and vivid complementary colors.
